General Membership Meetings

The Kuhio Lions holds monthly General Membership Meetings on the second Thursday of each month. The meetings are usually held at Rumours Nightclub located on the ground floor of the Ala Moana Hotel. We "Meet and Greet" at 6 p.m., and the meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. No-host drinks are available. Complimentary "pupus" (light appetizers) are available until 8 p.m.

Our December General Membership Meeting will not be held at Rumours due to their busy holiday schedule.

Board of Directors Meetings

The Kuhio Lions holds monthly Board of Directors meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month. The meetings are open to all members and begin at 6 p.m. The location of the board meeting varies according to the availability of facilities. Please call Secretary Kathryn Chung at 396-7796 if you would like to attend.

October 8 -- World Service Day


Join us in celebrating Lions World Service Day on Monday, October 8, 2001. Eight Lions Clubs join together to host an annual dinner, honoring members of the Hawaii Center for the Deaf and Blind, Ho'opono (services for the blind), the ARC in Hawaii, and the Waimanalo Seniors. This year, the dinner will be held at Wah Kung Restaurant, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Dinners cost $20 per person, and the deadline to make a reservation is October 1. October 14 -- McCully Library Clean Up

The Kuhio Lions are joining with the Ala Moana Jaycees to hold a clean up day at the McCully Library on Sunday, October 14, 2001. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. until mid-afternoon. If you are interested in participating, please call Lion Kathryn Chung at 396-7796. Mahalo.

November 3 - District 50 Lions Special Convention

The District 50 (Statewide) Lions are holding a Special Convention on Saturday, November 3, 2001. This Special Convention is being convened for the purpose of approving the nomination of Lion Mel Nakamura as a candidate for International Director. This will allow Lion Mel to run for the office of International Director at the Osaka Convention in June 2002. (Our annual convention, held in May, would be held too late to approve Lion Mel's candidacy in time for the International Convention.) Our club needs to provide a minimum of two delegates to cast votes at this convention. The convention will be held at the Kapiolani Community College Cafeteria, with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m., and the convention beginning at 8:30 a.m. Immediately following the special convention will be the Mid-Year District Forum.

November 3 - Mid-Year District Forum

All members are encouraged to attend the Mid-Year District Forum, to be held on Saturday, November 3. The Forum will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Kapiolani Community College Cafeteria, following the District 50 Special Convention. The cost of attending the Forum is only $8 per person, including a bento lunch. If you are interested in attending, please contact Lion Kathryn Chung at 396-7796.

November 4 - District Cabinet Meeting

The second quarterly District 50 Cabinet Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 4. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the HMSA Conference Room. All Club Presidents and Secretaries, and Cabinet Members are requested to attend. All other interested Lions are welcome to attend. If you would like to attend, please contact Lion Kathryn Chung at 396-7796.

November 26 - Zone Advisory Meeting

The second quarterly Zone Advisory Meeting will be held on Monday, November 26 at the Wisteria Restaurant. All presidents and secretaries of clubs in Region 4, Zone 2 are requested to attend. Other interested Lions are welcome to attend. Please contact Lion Kathryn Chung for more information.

December 8 - Weinberg Friends Project

The Kuhio Lions will be holding a Weinberg Friends Project on Saturday, December 8, 2001. Over 25 adult volunteers are needed to participate in this community improvement project. In addition, in exchange for completing the community improvement project, the Weinberg Foundation will donate $10,000 to the non-profit charity of our choice in our name. More details of the project will be posted as they develop. Please plan to attend to help us with this worthy project.
